Visit Fuengirola Zoo

31/01/2011 12:37

Special places, special holidays

If you choose Andalusia and Costa del Sol as your holiday destination, make sure that you don’t miss the Fuengirola Zoo. The zoo patiently waits for its visitors in the center of the town, where the employers have beautifully managed to recreate the natural habitat of hundreds of endangered species. It is children who especially love this place, but adults learn to love it too once they cross the zoo’s doorstep.

How the zoo appeared

The history of the Fuengirola Zoo starts in the 1970s, when it was just an ordinary zoo, with a lot of necessities. Once 1998 came, Rain Forest took the control of the zoo and decided to transform it into just one ecosystem, a subtropical one, as the area covered by the zoo didn’t permit a higher number of ecosystems. Their result is amazing: the natural habitat of hundreds of species from Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and even Southeastern Asia was so well recreated that they even have caves, waterfalls and valleys.

Beautiful species

The zoo hosts a lot of endangered species and the employers are very dedicated to their work of helping these endangered species to survive. A great work has been done with the chimpanzees. Back in the 1970s, when the conditions in the zoo were not some of the best, chimpanzees had a problem breeding successfully. Now that the conditions in the zoo are so close to those of their natural habitat, many baby chimpanzees were born, for the excitement of children and their parents who absolutely adore them. However, not only do chimpanzees breed successfully, but also species from Madagascar like lemurs, the tigers from Sumatra and the orangutans.

Inside the zoo

When you take your first step into the zoo, someone will take a picture of you, so that you have it as a memory. You will immediately feel like you're inside an Asian or an African tropical rainforest: the noises, the sounds, the trees, and the animals will make you really feel like you are in the middle of nature. You’ll have the chance to see some amazing animals and birds, such as the Sumatran tiger, the friendly lemurs, the funny Orangutans who recently had a baby, Nile crocodiles and flamingos. If you visit the zoo in the warm evenings of July or August, you can have a delicious African meal, accompanied by traditional music and dancing. Enjoy Fuengirola Zoo!

Visit Caleta De Fuste

31/01/2011 12:34

A holiday in Spain

Spain is a beautiful country for a holiday, because it has many interesting places to offer. Caleta de Fuste is one of these interesting places, making it a wonderful holiday destination. Caleta de Fuste is situated on the eastern coastline of the Fuerteventura Island, where it enjoys a very warm and welcoming climate all year long. The resort had developed considerably in the last few years, with a luxurious hotel and a golf course among its newest acquisitions. The resort is a very peaceful one, so it is extremely popular among young couples and families with small children who come here from all over Europe. The beach is guarded by a large bay. With some of the finest sands imported from the warmest places on earth, this beach is great for children, because the water is shallow.

Having fun in Caleta de Fuste

For the little ones, Caleta de Fuste has a lot of playgrounds with nice trampolines and small rides which are not dangerous; for the parents, the entertaining activities are also diverse. Most of the tourists are impressed by the Old Tower that watches over the harbor; many of them take long walks along the harbor, because the views of the boats coming and going are absolutely breathtaking. If the idea attracts you, you can go on a boat tour to watch the whales; this is one of the few places in Europe where you can do this. If you love water, Caleta de Fuste offers you the possibility to practice surfing or scuba diving, even though you may be a beginner. When you want to breathe some fresh air, take a walk along the path which leads you to Nuevo Horizonte. When you get there, you can have a nice meal in one of the restaurants serving traditional dishes.

Other types of activities

The nightlife is not very active in Caleta de Fuste, but you can spend a few pleasant hours in one of the bars and pubs of the resort; you can listen to music or taste the famous tapas in the company of your loved ones. For a delicious seafood meal, go to Frasquita restaurant; the views over the ocean are amazing from its windows. Caleta de Fuste has nice shopping centers from which you can buy souvenirs for those back home. Caleta de Fuste is very accessible from the Fuerteventura airport, just 7 kilometers away, so there is nothing to stop you from visiting it!

Tranquility in Puerto Pollensa

31/01/2011 12:33

A beautiful holiday resort

When people hear the word “holiday,” all their thoughts fly to sunny beaches, cocktails and clear waters. This is the reason why so many people choose Spain for their holiday destination: they are absolutely sure that they will find everything here they dreamt of. Puerto Pollensa stays among the most popular holiday destinations in Spain, as the small and tranquil fishing port offers tourists the opportunity to have a very relaxing time. Puerto Pollensa is patiently waiting for its tourists in the Balearic Island of Mallorca, on its northwestern coast. Being guarded by the Mountains of Cap Formentor and Sierra de Tamuntana, not only does it enjoy a perfect climate all year long, but also some spectacular views.

Calm and tranquility

Puerto Pollensa is very special among the other towns in Mallorca due to the fact that the locals have succeeded in maintaining its traditional spirit, so its charm has not been spoiled by development. The history of the town as a holiday resort dates back to the 1920s, when the British started to build holiday homes here, far from the capricious weather of their country. More tourists were attracted starting with the 1950s, when hotels appeared in Puerto Pollensa. Very close to Puerto Pollensa you’ll find an ancient settlement: Pollensa. The town was built by the Romans in order to have a defense point against the attacks coming from pirates. Tourists can still visit the Roman Bridge or Pont Roma, connecting the two settlements. The old town attracts tourists with its sightseeing points; the Calvari Church is an important sightseeing monument which still has the old wooden cross guarding it. It now functions as the Town Hall and, although you’ll have to climb no less than 365 steps to get to it, the monument waiting for you at the top is spectacular. The Municipal Museum is hosted by an old Dominican Convent and it displays a few collections of objects dating back to the pre-Roman era. If you want to enjoy a good coffee or taste the famous tapas, visit the Plaza Mayor and you’ll find plenty of coffee shops and bars.

Sun and water

It is obvious that you must go to the beach and visit the harbor while in Puerto Pollensa. Most of the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag, while the harbor offers colorful and luxurious shows every day: the yachts that continuously come and go.

TOP NIGHTLIFE ATTRACTIONS IN TENERIFE

25/01/2011 16:15

 Enjoying a holiday

When you decide to go on a holiday, you choose the destination according to your preferences and desires; when the destination does not meet your expectations, the holiday is compromised. This will not happen if you choose the sunny Tenerife in Spain as your destination. Tenerife is the place where you will find a lot of warm sunshine and interesting places to keep you entertained. Although it has a reputation for being the partying island, Tenerife is also a good resort for those who have families and children. You will agree with me when you find out the fact that the nightlife is divided into many sections, out of which you can choose the one that best fits you.

Having fun with your family

If you travel with your family, it does not mean that entertainment is banned. The nightlife for young families with children is very rewarding. You can spend a nice evening in Los Cristianos, where the Cheers Bar organizes theme nights and serves tasty home cooked meals which children love. If you choose Las Americans, you can offer your dear ones a fun filled night of cabaret in Wigan Pier Bar; a lot of quizzes and games as well as karaoke are ready to entertain the whole family, so you will have a very good time here.

Evenings for romantic couples

Tenerife is the place to take your other half, as you can spend some unforgettable moments on this Spanish island. Your night can begin with a romantic walk along the beach, as no less than 2 kilometers of boardwalk are waiting for you to watch the sunset and the calm water. Along the esplanade, romantic restaurants such as Timon have their doors open which serve delicious seafood dishes in a setting which seems to be unreal. If you really want something special, take your loved one to Casa Pana where you can dine surrounded by grape vines.

The young clubbers

If you are young and love going to clubs, Tenerife is perfect. The best place for you is Veronica, where you will find only clubs on a surface of 200 meters. The clubs are open until 5 a.m. and offer you a night full of good drinks and dancing.

A little bit of culture and tradition

Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz are loyal to the pure Spanish tradition; if you go there, you will have the chance to taste the famous tapas and take part in one of the popular carnivals.

THE WONDERS OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY

25/01/2011 16:15

A Spanish holiday in the Basque Country

The north of Spain hosts the wonderful Basque Country, a place where you will be welcomed by amazing coastal towns and surrounded by the spectacular views offered by the Pyrenees. The Basque Country is an autonomous region of Spain, but also one of its most beautiful, so visit it if you want to spend a special holiday in Spain.

The coastline in the Basque Country

If you travel by car form Bilbao right to San Sebastian, you will have a spectacular view just outside your window: traditional, but coquette fishing villages, cliffs and coves. Bakio is a fantastic city if you are in search for a seaside destination, as its long beach is one of the most spectacular beaches in Spain. Bermeo is a port where, besides the water fun, you also have the chance to spend some quality time with your friends in one of the many bars and pubs; Lekeitio and Ondarroa are fishing villages, but also places where you can visit some fantastic Gothic churches.

Bilbao and its attractions

The Basque Country is very proud of Bilbao, its largest city; also a seaport, Bilbao is a great holiday destination, as it managed to turn all its latest attention towards tourism. This means that you will have a wide range of activities to choose from, so boredom is not a word to think about. The Guggenheim Museum is one of its major attractions; the outstanding museum opened in 1997 and it receives one of the largest numbers of visitors in the world. The art collections belong mainly to the 20th century and its second half, and people from all the corners of the world visit the Basque Country especially for the museum. Frank Gehry is the one who designed it using limestone, titanium and even glass, and the result is the spectacular building that you can visit today.

San Sebastian and Vitoria

San Sebastian is a place that the Spanish aristocracy loved and still loves; it is probably due to the unique atmosphere offered by the promenade which is full of tamarind trees, and due to the beachfront cafes which tourists love because the views are absolutely amazing. Vitoria is the perfect place for those who love nature, as it is a place full of parks and nature reserves. If you want a breath of fresh air, go to Vitoria. Enjoy your Spanish holiday!

An amazing region

Andalucia is one of the most complex regions in Spain, with a multitude of landscapes and opposing cities inhabited by open hearted people, always ready to receive new tourists. The autonomous community is famous for the Flamenco music, bullfighting, Carmen and Don Juan and the spectacular beaches. Tourists can ski in the Sierra Nevada Mountains or bathe in the warm waters of the sea, visit the traditional and very famous white villages or sightsee in one of the cosmopolite cities, and this is why they love Andalusia.

Top interests in Andalusia

The main interest in Andalusia is its biggest, city, Seville, the third in size of Spain. Tourists love the city because of its special fragrance. Ronda is a lovely place where tourists can admire the breathtaking views surrounding the town, and Almeria is extremely important for the Moorish architecture, the place where the beautiful white houses can be admired. Cadiz is known as being among the oldest cities of this amazing country and Huelva is famous for being very close to   the place from where Columbus started his journeys to America. For those who travel to Spain for its natural wonders, they should know that Andalusia is the home of the Donana National Park and Costa Luz, which has fantastic beaches; those who love wine should go to Jerez, the place where sherry wine was born.

The cuisine

As you can see, Andalusia is really a magnificent region in Spain; however, the cities, the monuments and the views are not the only attractions of Andalusia. Tourists come here attracted by the smells and the flavors of the traditional dishes cooked in Andalusia; among them, try the fried cuisine which uses olive oil, the dishes which use fish and seafood and the delicious desserts, such as the wine doughnuts and torrijas. THE WONDERS OF AIGUABLAVA

25/01/2011 16:12

Visiting the beauties of Spain

When you go to Spain, you have the chance to visit a lot of wonderful places, as Spain is one of the most visited and most beautiful countries in the world. A very special place for tourists is the Parador Aiguablava. The Parador is situated in a small heaven on earth, a place that those who love water and the sea consider to be among the most amazing places they’ve ever seen. You will also fall in love with it once you see it: the views are breathtaking. The outstanding beauty of the Parador, which is a four stars one, comes from the fact that it occupies a peninsula all alone, a small piece of land almost completely surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, all covered with pine trees. The peninsula is located somewhere along the Costa Brava, one of the most beautiful coasts in Spain by essence; its beauty is pure and simple and it gives a special feeling to whoever finds himself in the middle of it. It seems like time has stopped over the Parador and over the entire region, where you    will find plenty of small but cozy traditional villages.

The Parador Aiguablava

If you choose the Parador for accommodation, you will be stunned by the amazing views that open in front of your eyes from any window. The conditions are among the best: you have a swimming pool, gym, even a sauna; the restaurant of the Parador offers very fresh food and tourists say that the seafood dishes in which it specializes are divine. The internet connection is available in the game room and the beach is just a few steps away; sports such as diving or canoeing, horse riding and trekking are at your disposal at any time, so there is no possibility for you to get bored in Aiguablava.

Day trips

Most of the tourists who come to Parador Aiguablava usually stay for a few days; this is why they are very interested in day trips. A wonderful day trip is the one to Pals and Peratallada, two old, medieval villages where some of the oldest Spanish settlements were preserved. An interesting attraction is the “Dali Triangle”, three monuments which have connections with the great Dali: the Castell de Pubol, a mansion on which he left his fingerprints, Cadaques, a place where he lived, and the Dali Theatre. Visit Aiguablava and you will love it.
